Dog obedience training videos

Dog training can be quite a daunting task if you decide to go it alone. There are plenty of books on the subject, you could also go to dog training classes or if your schedule doesn't allow for that then you might consider purchasing a dog training video or dvd.
Dog training DVDs are the next best thing to having a personal trainer or attending dog obedience classes. They are full of handy hints and tips and you can visually watch as the instructions on how to successfully train your dog are given.
There are many different dog training video products on the market today. They can be found at book stores, pet shops and even some supermarkets or at online stores such as amazon or ebay. There are also a few online video courses that you can buy. You download the videos from a web site to your own computer and watch them at your leisure. There is a particularly good one offered by Dove Cresswell. She offers a free video lesson as a sample at her web site so you can get a feel for how the lessons are presented before you purchase. Of the different videos I have come across there seems to be several different forms of presenting these. Some are focused on training where the dog is supposed to be doing the narration and no actual handler is present, These are quite entertaining but it is essential really that you watch the trainer more than the dog so you can observe the body language and the interaction between the dog and the trainer.
There are other dog training DVDs that show well trained dogs in an indoor location which is some sort of hall. These show you the steps to take when training your dog but they seem a little clinical and as the dogs used are all expertly trained it all becomes a little boring and predictable after a while.
A better style of training video is the more natural type where the dog and the trainer are seen in an outdoor location. Where the dogs and the trainers seem to be real people who make mistakes and have accidents as opposed to cold, well trained actors. We can also learn a lot from watching the mistakes that trainers and dogs make.
On the whole, dog training videos are relatively inexpensive and readily available. I recommend the online ones that can be previewed before purchase so that you know what you will be getting. Also a lot of the online video courses offer a no questions money back guarantee if you are not satisfied.
